SEPA payments

Euro payments that arrive in seconds, not on Monday

Three ways to move euro inside the single euro payments area: a standard transfer, an instant transfer that lands in seconds at any hour of any day, and a direct debit that repeats on its own under a mandate you can see and stop.

SEPA Instant, at any hour

One zone, one standard, one set of details

The single euro payments area covers the European Union and a handful of countries around it. Inside it a euro payment follows one standard, whichever border it crosses: the same IBAN to send it, the same rules on timing, and the same treatment as a payment inside your own country.

Everything on this page is sent from and received into the euro balance of your Reibanq account, and appears in the same transaction list as the rest of your movements.

Three schemes

Standard, instant, and the one that repeats

SEPA Credit Transfer

The ordinary euro transfer. You send it with the recipient’s IBAN, and it usually arrives the same or the next working day.

10 — free transfers a month, then €1.00 each.

SEPA Instant

The same transfer, credited in seconds — on a Sunday, at midnight, on a public holiday. There is no cut-off time to miss, because the scheme does not have one.

24/7 — including weekends and holidays.

SEPA Direct Debit

A recurring collection you authorise once with a mandate: rent, a utility, a subscription. The payment repeats on its own until you stop it.

1 — mandate, then nothing to remember.

Instant payments

What changes when a transfer takes ten seconds

A standard transfer is a promise about a working day. An instant transfer is a confirmation while you are still on the phone with the person waiting for it.

That difference is not a convenience. It decides whether a supplier releases goods on Friday afternoon or on Monday morning, whether a deposit reaches a landlord before the viewing ends, and whether a contractor is paid on the day they finished rather than on the day the batch runs.

  • Credited in seconds, at any hour of any day
  • The recipient sees it immediately, with no pending state to explain
  • The same IBAN and the same screen as a standard transfer
  • The fee, if the transfer carries one, is shown before you confirm

Direct debit

The payment you set up once

A direct debit reverses who starts the payment. Instead of sending money on a date you have to remember, you sign a mandate that lets the other party collect it: the rent, the electricity bill, the software the company runs on.

The mandate is the control. It names who can collect, and it can be withdrawn — the collection stops from the next one onwards. Under the SEPA rules a collection you authorised can also be refunded on request within eight weeks of the day it was taken, and a collection with no valid mandate behind it can be disputed for thirteen months.

  • Every mandate on your account is visible in the app
  • A mandate can be stopped, and the next collection does not happen
  • Each collection appears in the transaction list like any other movement

Ready to send one?

The first ten SEPA transfers each month are free, and each one after that costs €1.00.

Questions

SEPA, in plain terms

Which countries are in the SEPA zone?

The European Union, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, the Vatican City and the United Kingdom. A euro payment to any of them follows the same standard.

What do I need to send a SEPA payment?

The recipient’s IBAN and their name. Nothing else: no routing rules to look up and no form to sign.

What makes a payment instant?

The scheme. SEPA Instant credits the recipient in seconds and runs at every hour of every day, weekends and public holidays included, while a standard SEPA transfer is settled on working days.

How do I stop a direct debit?

Withdraw the mandate from the app. The collection stops from the next one onwards, and a collection already taken can be refunded on request within eight weeks.

What does a SEPA transfer cost?

The first ten you send in a month are free on every plan, and each one after that costs €1.00. The fee is shown before you confirm, and the full list is on the Business pricing and People plans pages.

Send it now, not on the next working day

An IBAN in your own name, instant euro transfers across the SEPA zone, and the fee written next to the amount before you confirm it.
